@Lynnmcguire - it will definitely not work with normal user rights. I have tested it on Vista, but no Windows 7.

How are you building getdiskserial.cpp ?

I noticed that you are using the wide character win32 api. Do you think that is why your solution works better ?

Did you test this on Vista ?

I also had this issue until I applied this fix, (Thank you for all of your hard work) and it worked for about 6 weeks. I would connect to my network from home; Remote desktop to my computer all is good! About 2 weeks ago my vista laptop started losing connection about 2 min into the session. There is a little popup window that says connection lost trying to reconnect 1 of 20 times. The connection is reestablished after the 5th or 6th attempt but keeps dropping out again in about 2 min. I've searched and searched and haven't been able to find any info on this issue. Any help would appreciated.

About your first comment - It is obvious how the campaign is designed, thanks for the explanation. My point was, that with negative advertising you can grow from 2% to 6% successfully (an apple showed that), but in the process you create negative feelings towards yourself, which will work against you if you want to make this 6% something more.

About your second comment - if you were carefully reading the post, you would find out this is a quote, so if you wanna be a real apple zealot - you have to comment on Joel's site.

My personal opinion on the matter is: Yes, the whole world knows how CISC vs RISC compare, besides Apple's marketing department.

Get back to the ads for the PowerPC please - do they say "Power PC is sometimes better, sometimes worse than Intel", or do they say "Power PC is better. Period".

I am glad I could help. This is what I wrote in an e-mail to jay_dale to solve his problem:

Maybe you forgot to enclose it in "". Since Program Files has a space in it, it needs quotes

"C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\bin\openvpn.exe" "C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config "

I'm having problems with this - can you type out the command if the location of the ovpn file is in c:\program files\openvpn\config? I keep getting syntax errors. Thanks!

Forgot to mention...

"Apple is and always has been severely dishonest in all their advertising when it comes to performance. This is the company that spent years telling us that the PowerPC was faster than Intel"

Benchmarks have proved this time and again. RISC vs CISC is an apples-to-oranges comparison. There is no "one size fits all" solution for an entire industry. You can argue that Intel is superior to PPC on the desktop, but in EVERY OTHER ARENA (including multimedia - Apple's specialty), RISC dominates all.
